Abby Hancock is a general assignment and health reporter for KTUU. She joined the Channel 2 news team in December 2008 as an associate producer, eventually becoming the weekend producer and began reporting in 2011.
Abby is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage where she earned a Bachelor of Art's degree in Journalism and Public Communications. During her time at UAA, she contributed to the campus newspaper The Northern Light, spent a semester as an intern for the Anchorage Press, and was involved in the campus' Radio Television Digital News Association.
In January 2006, Abby made the move to snowy Anchorage from her Puget Sound hometown of Silverdale, Washington. Abby loves travelling and still has a lot of Alaska to explore. As Miss Alaska 2010, Abby visited the friendly southeast community of Wrangell, made the trip overseas to Anchorage's sister city of Chitose, Japan, and competed in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. She also served as the state goodwill ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network. Abby received thousands of dollars in scholarship from the Miss America Organization and is now giving back as a volunteer.
Abby is always interested in hearing story ideas from viewers.
