ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police have named a person of interest in the theft of a giant wooden carving of an eagle that took place over the weekend.
Officer Doug Fifer, who has been investigating the case, says 22-year-old Jeramie Ghrames may have something to do with the theft of the carving, which was taken from the back of a truck parked at a South Anchorage Lowe's hardware store on Sunday.
APD spokesperson Marlene Lammers says officers arrested Ghrames on an unrelated outstanding shoplifting warrant on Wednesday, but Ghrames has not yet been charged with the eagle carving theft.
Fifer says Ghrames tried to run from police after he was arrested and handcuffed Wednesday, leading to an additional charge of resisting arrest.
