APD Identifies Man Killed in Russian Jack Shooting

Police also identify other man with gunshot wounds in hospital

ANCHORAGE, Alaska —

An early morning Saturday shooting in the Russian Jack area left a 38-year-old man dead and investigators are trying to figure out if another man with gunshots wound were related cases, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

APD says the deadly shooting happened after reports of shots around 1:44 a.m. at the 4400 block of San Roberto Avenue where police say Kirt Kaanoi was found suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He was taken to a local hospital and died an hour later.

APD spokesperson Anita Shell said detectives are trying to determine if another man with gunshots wounds was connected in the deadly shooting.

Police say 19-year-old Samuel Davis arrived at a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds moments after the shooting and remains in critical but stable condition.
