ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage will celebrate the Fourth of July like many communities across America with an Independence Day parade on the park strip.
More than 50 floats are scheduled to march along the downtown park strip starting around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
For the past few days, teams were putting the finishing touches on its floats.
“The city really needed something to be happening on the Fourth,” Michael Zoske with Art Services North said. “Seward, Juneau, and Anchorage didn’t have anything really happening, and so twelve years ago Darl Shaff created the July Fourth celebration.”
The Art Services Team has built a float designed as a tribute to the troops with an inflatable Lady Liberty.
A pancake breakfast is also scheduled at 8:00 a.m. on the park strip and the festivities run until 6:00 p.m.
