Woman's Body Found Near Barrow

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A woman’s body found near Barrow has been recovered for identification, according to North Slope Borough police.

Dispatchers were informed Wednesday of the body’s location, along the coast about seven miles south of Barrow.

Officers flew to the location, retrieved the remains and took them to Barrow, pending transfer to the state medical examiner’s office for identification and autopsy.

Borough police have one open missing-persons case, that of a woman who disappeared in May.
