ANCHORAGE, Alaska — It was a short but sweet season for Alaskan basketball star Mario Chalmers, who helped the Miami Heat to a world championship as the starting point guard against the Boston Celtics.
The former Bartlett High School star is bringing a few of his NBA friends to Anchorage August 3rd for a charity exhibition game at the Sullivan Arena.
If this sounds familiar to you that is because way back in December a Chalmers led exhibition staring NBA players was scheduled. That game was canceled when the league's lockout ended and players had to get back to their respective teams to report for training camp.
This go around, the game is officially sanctioned by the National Basketball Association. The league even flying up official NBA referees to make all the calls.
Only a few of the 20 expected participants have been announced at this point. Along with Mario Chalmers will be guard Terrence Williams of the Sacramento Kings and Brandon Rush who spent the past year as a swing man for the Golden State Warriors. The most iconic name attached to this game so far is hall of famer Isiah Thomas who will be coaching.
Pre-sale tickets for the event will become available exclusively on KTUU.com at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11th. Friday July 13th tickets will become available on Ticketmaster.com, Charge-by-Phone at 1-800-745-3000, Fred Meyer Ticketmaster Outlets and Sullivan Arena Box Office.
