Anchorage, AK — A 57 year-old Connecticut man died early Sunday morning when his motorcycle struck a moose, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Philip J. Dubourg was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Delta Junction. Troopers say Dubourg was driving a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle north on the Richardson Highway when the moose ran out in front of him.

Troopers say he was on a weeks-long motorcycle trip across the country and appeared to be riding alone.
