Police Search for Missing Endangered Man

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage Police are looking for an elderly man who went missing early this morning. APD said 73-year-old Nelson Ahvakana went missing about 2 a.m. He was last seen on foot near the Puffin Inn. He was wearing a black jacket, dark brown pants, camo shoes, and a Conoco Philips ball cap.

Police say he has dementia, type 2 diabetes, and a heart condition. Ahvakana is 5'9," 210 lbs with short gray hair with a darker goatee. He has brown and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police dispatch at 786-8900.
