ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A woman who was allegedly shot by her son Wednesday afternoon told investigators that she sensed something was “not right” when she stopped by his Midtown apartment.
Paino Alvarez-Perdomo, 29, was arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree assault and third-degree weapons misconduct.
Officers initially responded just after 2 p.m. Wednesday to the Golden Corral restaurant at 4520 Union Square Dr., where they found Altagracia Guillen with a single gunshot wound.
Heavily armed officers and SWAT team members subsequently flooded into Midtown, surrounding the Arctic Sun Apartments at 625 W. 46th Ave., near the intersection of Tudor Road and Arctic Boulevard. Alvarez-Perdomo walked out of the building and surrendered to police.
According to charging documents in the case (PDF), Guillen told police that Alvarez-Perdomo had called her Wednesday and asked her to visit him at the apartment building. When she knocked on the door to his apartment, her son asked her to come inside.
