January 19, 2013|By Chris Klint | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A 15-year-old girl was struck in the leg during a drive-by shooting early Saturday at a home in an East Anchorage residential area, according to local police.

APD spokesperson Dani Myren says officers responded to the 1500 block of Hoyt Street, southeast of DeBarr Road’s intersection with Bragaw Street, at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Multiple rounds were fired at the home from what was reported as a white SUV.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of several occupants inside the residence had been sleeping in her bedroom when she was struck in the leg by one of multiple shots fired upon the home," Myren wrote in a Saturday statement on the shooting.

The girl was taken by medics to a local hospital with what Myren described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Numerous details on the shooting, including the number and type of rounds fired, any description of the suspects and whether the home was targeted or accidentally hit in the shooting, were not immediately available Saturday evening.
