Faced with seven games in a 10 day span, the Alaska Aces are showing very little drop-off in productivity.  If anything, they keep improving.  Alaska defeated Las Vegas, 3-1 on Friday night to extend their unbeaten streak to 12 games.  Jordan Kremyr and Spencer Bennett scored first period goals for Alaska, while Nick Mazzolini tallied his 31st of the year.  Spencer's goal was his fourth in as many games. Mark Guggenberger made 21 saves for the victory in net.  The Aces move to an ECHL-best 39-11-6 on the season.

Mark Guggenberger made 23 of his career-high 50 saves in the first period, an ECHL season best for any goaltender in any period, as the Alaska Aces blew out the Utah Grizzlies, 6-1 to improve to 37-11-6 on the season.  Spencer Bennett scored twice for Alaska, including one of three Aces goals in a 2:06 span in the opening frame. The Aces dominated on special teams, with Nick Mazzolini scoring a rare 5-on-3 shorthanded goal in the third period with Alaska killing off a Utah two-man advantage.  Alaska killed the penalty, and moments later, Garry Nunn buried a power play strike.

It appears that the NHL lockout will end and there could be a season after all, which means that Scott Gomez, Joey Crabb, and Nate Thompson will end their terms with the Alaska Aces. The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association reached an agreement early Sunday morning but that deal still needs to be signed off before it's official. As of Sunday, the NHL players on the Aces roster are sitting out the game in Ontario, with the exception of Thompson, who remains on the injured list.

The youngest member of the Alaska Aces will be the club's only all-star selection.  Defenseman William Wrenn, just 21, has been named to the ECHL all-star squad that will play against the Colorado Eagles in Loveland, Colorado on January 23rd. Wrenn is making his pro debut this season for Alaska, and own totals of 5 goals and 11 assists and is one of three Aces to suit up in all 34 games this season.  His 5 goals are the most of any Alaska blueliner. The Aces are on a season-long eight game winning streak and visit Stockton on Friday.
