Palmer's Fire Department Chief John McNutt is getting ready to deploy overseas in early April. John McNutt has been deployed three times with the Air National Guard, but this upcoming six-month tour will be his longest yet. In the past, he's been to the United Arab Emirates twice and Baghdad once. According to McNutt, he can't disclose where he is going this time but says he will be facing hot temperatures and that makes fighting fires even more difficult. “You're dealing with temperatures of course in the 100 degree with all of our safe fire gear we wear here,” said PFD Chief McNutt said.
