A Ketchikan city council member and former mayor was arrested for child pornography last Friday. Jack Shay is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography, he was arraigned on Saturday morning. According to Deputy Police Chief Josh Dossett a local computer repair shop alerted authorities to the images on Shay's computer. "The tech hooked up the printer, both Mr. Shay's, printer to the laptop computer and when he turned on the machine it started printing out images of child porn," Dossett said.

Anchorage police arrested a 26-year-old man who worked for a vendor at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Wednesday on an arrest warrant for possessing and distributing child pornography. APD says Daniel K. Baumgartner came under investigation in April, when he sent images depicting the sexual abuse of young children over the Internet to undercover Detective Mark Thomas with the department's Cyber Crimes Unit. Thomas says investigators used a search warrant to obtain Baumgartner's name and address from his Internet service provider.

A man wanted for possession and distribution of child pornography turned himself in to Anchorage police at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, according to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker. Jeremiah Fagan Alexander, a 30-year-old Anchorage resident, was facing two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. Images and videos of victims ranging from infants to late-teenagers were found on Alexander's computer, which was seized on a search warrant after a February investigation by APD Cyber Crimes Unit detectives.

An Anchorage man suspected of collecting and distributing videos of child sexual exploitation has turned himself in. Donald R. Ponder, 45, presented himself at the Anchorage Jail overnight Tuesday. He has been charged with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. APD detectives searched Ponder's address on the 4300 block of Wisconsin Blvd. on March 3 and seized computer equipment at the residence which contained videos of child pornography. Police were tipped to Ponder's activities after investigation led by the APD Cyber Crimes Unit.

Anchorage police arrested a local man Friday for viewing child pornography on a Loussac Library computer. Michael John Aaron Loudermilk, 32, was charged with possessing child pornography and indecent viewing or photography. Loudermilk was found to have been searching for images of child pornography after a joint investigation by the Loussac Library, Anchorage Police Department patrol officers and APD’s Cyber Crimes Unit. Images depicting the exploitation of minors were also found on his cell phone.

A former substitute teacher for local elementary schools will spend three and a half years in prison for his guilty plea for possession of child pornography. 32 year-old Eric Hafen had images and videos of child pornography on his computer. Anchorage Police arrested him after a tip back in May. Hafen worked as a substitute teacher for the Anchorage School District and worked for the Campfire Program at Government Hill Elementary School. He will also serve five years on probation and must register as a sex offender.

by The Associated Press Saturday, July 31, 2010 FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- A Fort Wainwright soldier pleaded not guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography at his arraignment Friday. Joseph Edward Brannock was charged by federal prosecutors with knowingly seeking out and disseminating pornography across state and national lines. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports the 22-year-old Fairbanks man is in the process of being discharged from the U.S. Army.
