Aces forward Chris Langkow has rejoined the team after spending the first part of the season in the AHL.  Langkow started the season at the Peoria Rivermen training camp, then played on loan with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  He started the season with 5 points in 7 games, but suffered an injury that has had him sidelined since October 22. Dan Kissel scored for the fourth straight game, while Kory Falite and Chris Langkow continued their strong play as the Alaska Aces took down the Las Vegas Wranglers, 4-3, in the opener of a huge three game series Thursday night at Sullivan Arena. Alaska now stands at 32-19-2 overall, one point behind the Wranglers for the top spot in the ECHL's Western Conference. Langkow assisted on Alaska's first two goals of the night, and buried a power-play strike in the second period to give the Aces a 3-1 lead.

Alaska Aces forward Scott Howes, who sat out game three of the Kelly Cup Finals with an upper body injury, will be back in the lineup Friday night as the Aces look to extend their series lead to 3-1 over the Kalamazoo Wings. Howes leads all Aces in playoff points with 7 goals and 10 assists in his 10 games. The presence of Howes means that the Aces can get back to using the line combinations that were so successful all season and postseason. Howes will skate alongside usual linemates Wes Goldie and Brian Swanson on Alaska's top line.

The Alaska Aces completed the 3 game series against the Bakersfield Condors with a 4-3 win, claiming the series 2 games to 1. The first bit of action didn't come until the last minutes of period one, when Kane Lafranchise capitalized on the power play assisted by Chad Anderson and Garry Nunn. The Aces dominated the second period, with Chris Langkow lighting the lamp at 10:10 to give Alaska the 2-0 advantage.  At second intermission, Alaska had 22 shots on goal to Bakersfield's 11. In the third, Brian Miller and Nick Mazzolini both added a goal a piece giving the Aces a promising 4-0 lead.  In the final minutes, the Condors pulled the goalie to rally back 4-3 but were unable to send the game into overtime.

Alaska Aces rookie forward Chris Langkow continued his torrid scoring pace, but victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers wasn't secure until Gary Nunn scored 20 seconds into overtime to lift the Aces to a 4-3 victory Friday night at the Sullivan Arena. Alaska's win means the Aces and Wranglers are tied atop the ECHL's Western Conference heading into Sunday's series finale. Langkow, who had collected six points in his last two games, enjoyed his first hat trick as a professional.

The Alaska Aces took a giant step towards a return trip to the Kelly Cup finals with a 6-2 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings in game 3 of the ECHLs Western Conference finals Saturday night in Victoria. Alaska allowed the first goal of the game before reeling off the next six to take a commanding three games to none lead in the best of seven series. Scott Howes again led the Aces offense with a goal and three assists. His second period power pay goal put Alaska on the board and tied the game at one. Chris Langkow, who scored in sudden death overtime in game two, buried two goals in a span of less than three minutes to extend the Aces lead to 3-1. Howes then set up Brian Swanson with 1:01 left in the period, and the Aces found themselves up 4-1 into the third period.

The Alaska Aces pulverized the Kalamazoo Wings, 5-0 in game one of the Kelly Cup Finals on Saturday night at Sullivan Arena. Chris Langkow scored two goals and Gerald Coleman saved all 25 shots he faced for his third shutout of the 2011 postseason. Game two is Sunday night at Sullivan Arena. ECHL Most Valuable Player Wes Goldie scored his first goal in seven games for the only strike of the opening frame as Alaska outshot Kalamazoo 17-7 in the period. Langkow the gave the Aces a 2-0 lead on a timely goal with 57 seconds left in the second.

The Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces have signed two more returning players from last season's title run. Defenseman Chad Anderson and forward Chris Langkow are coming back for another season. Those signings make it 14 returners from the 2010-11 season. Anderson, 29, is a physical presence on the blue line at 6'4" and 218 pounds. In his first season as an Ace, the former UAA Seawolf scored four goals with 25 assists, while helping Gerald Coleman lead the ECHL with a 2.19 goals against average.

Bryan Miller scored 7 minutes, 33 seconds into overtime to lift the Alaska Aces to a 3-2 win over the Kalamazoo Wings and a two games to none lead in the Kelly Cup Finals.  The game was a roller coaster affair, with the Aces scoring twice in the first period but requiring overtime following a Wings goal with 24 seconds left to even the score. Chris Langkow and Curtis Fraser scored first period goals for Alaska. Langkow has six tallies in his last five games -- but from there, Kalamazoo gradually climbed back in, and carried play for much of the third period.

Matt Keetley stopped 49 of Alaska's 50 shots in his second victory at Sullivan Arena this season.  He also blanked the Aces, 4-0 on November 2nd.  Parker Stanfield scored twice for the Condors, including the go-ahead goal in the second period.  Kyle Calder buried a back breaking goal just 32 seconds later to make it 3-1.  Langkow was a playoff hero for the Aces during last year's run to the Kelly Cup, scoring eight goals in Alaska's final eight postseason games.  He began the season in the AHL, but prior to Friday night, he had not played since late October because of an injury.

The Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces have enjoyed tremendous continuity with 14 players already re-signed for the 2011-12 season. On Thursday, the club announced the acquisition of two new players.  Forwards Patrick Schafer and Chris Bruton will join the Aces next season. Both will be entering their first full seasons of pro hockey. Schafer, 23, comes to the Aces out of Ohio State University. He also spent half of last season with Arizona of the Central Hockey League, scoring 11 goals and adding 11 assists in 38 games.

The Alaska Aces capped off the most prolific postseason in ECHL history on Saturday night, winning their second Kelly Cup Title in franchise history with a 5-3 win over the Kalamazoo Wings in Game 5 of the championship series. Alaska claims the best-of-seven series four games to one and finishes the playoffs with 12 wins and just one defeat. In Game 5, the Aces made a habit out of quick responses to K-Wings goals. After falling behind 1-0 at 2:58 of the second period, Steve Ward scored his first goal of the postseason only 32 seconds later to even things up. The Aces took a 2-1 lead later in the second on Chris Langkow's first of two goals on the night.
