A small experimental plane was forced to crash-land in Chugiak Sunday morning, right on the edge of the Old Glenn Highway, according to Anchorage police. Police say the pilot, Craig Walls, was not injured. Officers on scene say it appears the plane was having engine problems. "It was pefectly in the ditch, the wing wasn't even in the highway. So he did a really good job on his crash landing," said Melody Gilliland who works at the Rural Discount Center, just feet away from where the crash-landing happened.

Blowing up ice - that's exactly how crews are clearing ice jams in Chugiak caused by the devastating September flooding . Due to dropping temperatures, houses along Aurora Borealis Road are now surrounded by ice as a result of Peters Creek flooding. Statewide Blasting and Perforating Service has been detonating dynamite placed underneath the ice. They hope this will cause the water to drop to normal levels - and ice that is surrounding those homes will in turn recede back into Peters Creek.
