The Dimond hockey team kept rolling on Wednesday night, turning in a 10-0 rout of Bartlett. The CIC-leading Lynx move to 5-0-0 in league play, while the last place Golden Bears drop to 0-5-0. Shilo Vega and Adrian Ramos each buried two goals for Dimond, which only led 1-0 after the first period. The score, lopsided as it was, could have been even more decisive if not for William Andariese's 54 saves for Bartlett.

Week 7 of the high-school football season is seventh heaven -- if you happen to be a mathematician. Boundless possibilities remain in the Cook Inlet Conference, with only West having clinched a playoff spot. The West Eagles visited Dimond Friday, with the 3 and 2 Lynx tied for 3rd in league play. J'Vonte Buster was slow to start off the opening kickoff, but soon busted loose to begin the game with a 90-yard touchdown. West was able to open its lead to 14-0 by halftime. As the second half began, West’s Tim Davis was able to get some gorgeous bounce out of an on-side kick recovered by Jacob Lawrence.

Defending state 4A volleyball champion Dimond showed its colors Thursday on a visit to Cook Inlet Conference rival Service. The Cougars’ four each freshmen and sophomores were poised early, with Genny Boots giving Service an initial 9-1 run. In the final week of the flag football regular season, Wednesday opponents Dimond and Bartlett were among three schools tied atop the league standings at 9 and 3. Late in the third quarter Bartlett’s Bobbi Britt intercepted a pass, going 92 yards for a touchdown that put the Golden Bears on top 14-7. But Dimond’s Kelsey Hall shook off the interception in the fourth quarter, with Hall finding Keiahnna Engel for a late touchdown. Dimond was still down by 1, but Engel scored again on the conversion and the Lynx prevailed 15-14.

A few plays later, Dimond setter Lauren Addington carded an ace, bringing the score up to 20-10 Lynx. Service was soon swept, as Dimond won the last game 25-13.

A year ago, the South Wolverines volleyball team entered the state championship match undefeated but were upset by Dimond in a three-game sweep. In their first meeting since, the Wolverines made sure there would be no repeat performance. South swept Dimond in Cook Inlet Conference play on Tuesday night, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18. Sarah Johnson led the Wolverines potent attack with 15 kills while Lindsey Logan registered 10 digs and four aces. For the Lynx, Kristi Lauwers pounded nine kills. Don't rule out a rematch later on this week in the West Spiketacular, a key early season tournament.
