The last-place Wolves quickly announced their presence at the Anchorage Football Stadium Thursday, starting from the opening kickoff. Kalechi Madubuko found a seam in South’s coverage and executed a nice stiff-arm play.

A group of city leaders is trying to figure out if there are enough taxicabs serving the Eagle River community and other outlying Anchorage areas. Right now, the city puts limits on the number of taxi cab permits in Anchorage, and some are arguing that limit has contributed to a shortage of cabs in outlying areas. Those arguing for more permits and less restriction say because of the limited number of taxicab permits, most drivers stay in Anchorage for their fares and opt for longer rides from the airport or downtown hotels to make enough money, instead of driving out to Eagle River for a ride that only lasts a mile or two. Assemblywoman Debbie Ossiander says she's considering an ordinance that would allow more cabs in outlying areas of town.

Two people were injured in separate Glenn Highway wrecks after traffic was stopped by people crossing the highway near Eagle River, temporarily narrowing the highway according to the Anchorage Police Department. APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker said the incident, which occurred shortly after 5 p.m., began with a van headed south on the Glenn breaking down just north of the Eagle River bridge. The van's four occupants got out and began crossing the Glenn to reach town for help, causing drivers in the outbound lanes to slam on the brakes and back up traffic as they abruptly stopped to let them cross.
