A request by the Alaska Federation of Natives to intervene in Joe Miller's lawsuit against the state has been denied. A federal judge responded in a written statement Tuesday saying, “The State of Alaska is responsible for and fully capable of representing the interests of all its citizens.” AFN filed the motion Monday saying the Miller campaign's lawsuit was trying to disenfranchise Alaska Native voters by invalidating their votes. Miller is suing the State Division of Elections and the lt. governor, arguing the law requires write-in votes to be spelled perfectly.

U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller is opposing Sen. Lisa Murkowski's motion to intervene in his lawsuit against the state. In a response filed Friday, Miller's attorneys say the state is the sole entity in dealing with enforcement and application of state law at issue. Murkowski has declared victory in the Senate race with a 10,000-vote lead, a total which includes 8,000 ballots contested by Miller observers. Miller is seeking to block certification of the general election. His lawsuit alleges elections officials illegally counted improperly marked votes for Murkowski.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller has been found at fault in a three-car accident in Fairbanks last month. Alaska State Troopers say that on the morning of Aug. 27, Miller rear-ended a vehicle that struck the one ahead of it. No one was injured in the accident. According to The New York Times, nobody involved in the accident was initially cited, but last week Miller was issued a citation for failing to exercise due caution to avoid a collision. A Miller spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.

Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Scott McAdams’ campaign opened its race headquarters Wednesday -- but McAdams, the mayor of Sitka, faces a tough fight against Republican opponent Joe Miller. The party at McAdams’ headquarters is over, but what follows is the hard part: raising money to counter Tea Party-endorsed Miller, who’s had hundreds of thousands of dollars come into his campaign. The opening of McAdams’ headquarters was also a chance to meet some of his supporters.

Alaska's CBS affiliate, TV station KTVA, is disputing allegations by U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller's campaign that some members of its news staff discussed creating or making up stories about Miller. Miller's campaign says a voicemail message left by a KTVA employee recorded for longer than intended, capturing conversation among newsroom employees. Miller spokesperson Randy DeSoto says the conversation included staff discussing potential scenarios surrounding a Miller rally last Thursday.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller says the support of his party doesn't mean much at this point in his campaign. He's counting on support from Alaskans. Questions have been raised about whether a series of high-profile campaign hiccups has eroded Republican Party support for Miller. Officials with both the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Alaska State GOP said it hadn't, but an Alaska Republican Party official sent an e-mail to fellow GOP members Sunday, questioning whether Miller represents their party’s values.

The State of Alaska filed its opposition today against a lawsuit from U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller. Miller is asking a federal judge to keep the Division of Elections from using discretion in counting write-in ballots. The state says Miller's claims have no merit. The suit was filed last Tuesday arguing the state should be held to the law, which states a ballot oval must be filled in and either the candidate's last name or name as it appears on a declaration of candidacy written in. The state has said it will use discretion when it comes to misspellings or variations of Murkowski's name with officials pointing to case law as their basis for this.

Local CBS affiliate KTVA cancelled its early-evening televised newscasts Wednesday night after the station’s general manager, Jerry Bever, said his newsroom's credibility had been called into question. “As the result of a conversation within our newsroom that was accidentally recorded and released to the public, our newsroom credibility has been called into question, and the public's trust in us has been tested,” Bever said. Joe Miller's campaign spokesman, Randy DeSoto, received a telephone message from KTVA that continued recording, capturing what the campaign claimed were efforts to conspire against Miller’s future appearances.

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll of 500 likely voters in Alaska Sunday, Joe Miller is well ahead of Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams in the race for U.S. Senate. The results show that 42 percent of those polled supported Miller. Murkowski was slightly ahead of McAdams, 27 percent to 25 percent. The poll came just two days after Murkowski announced her write-in Senate bid, following her loss to Miller in last month’s Republican primary. The poll suggests Murkowski may split the independent and Democratic vote with McAdams, while Miller enjoys strong support among conservatives.

Does candidate Joe Miller want to take away your right to vote for senators? That's what the Lisa Murkowski, and Scott McAdams campaigns say Miller said when he spoke in Fairbanks Monday night. Miller's campaign didn't respond to request for interviews, but it's what Miller's already said that has people talking. “Quite frankly, we were pretty shocked that he proposed something as radical as repealing the 17th Amendment,” said Steve Wackowski, Murkowski campaign.
