Alaska Aces forward Scott Howes, who sat out game three of the Kelly Cup Finals with an upper body injury, will be back in the lineup Friday night as the Aces look to extend their series lead to 3-1 over the Kalamazoo Wings. Howes leads all Aces in playoff points with 7 goals and 10 assists in his 10 games. The presence of Howes means that the Aces can get back to using the line combinations that were so successful all season and postseason. Howes will skate alongside usual linemates Wes Goldie and Brian Swanson on Alaska's top line.

Matt Keetley of the Bakersfield Condors posted the first shutout of the Alaska Aces since January 18th as the Condors began a three-game series at Sullivan Arena with a 4-0 win.  Keetley's 42 saves sent the defending Kelly Cup champions to a third straight loss, now 5-3-0 overall. Matthew Sisca and Scott Freeman each tallied a goal and two assists for the Condors, who improve to 4-3-1. Scott Howes, the reigning MVP of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, made his season debut for Alaska after off-season shoulder surgery and finished minus one with four shots on goal.

The Alaska Aces took a thrilling overtime win over the Victoria Salmon Kings for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final series. The overtime goal by Chris Langkow sealed a back-and-forth game in which the Salmon Kings played much bigger than their No. 7 ranking, putting the Aces at a deficit in the second period for the first time in the postseason. In the first period, the Aces made it clear that they weren't going to let the game be as close as Wednesday night’s narrow 2-1 victory.

The Alaska Aces punctuated a 4-0 series sweep of the Idaho Steelheads with a 4-0 win in Friday's fourth game of the Western Conference Semifinals at Qwest Arena. The series win qualifies Alaska for the conference finals for the fifth time in their eight year ECHL history. Idaho came out determined to avoid a sweep, and outshot Alaska 10-8 in a scoreless first period. The Aces opened the scoring 1:13 into the second on a goal by Scott Howes, his second of the series. The Aces controlled play through most of that period, and took a 2-0 lead on Curtis Fraser's rebound strike with 57 seconds left until intermission.

The Alaska Aces took a giant step towards a return trip to the Kelly Cup finals with a 6-2 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings in game 3 of the ECHLs Western Conference finals Saturday night in Victoria. Alaska allowed the first goal of the game before reeling off the next six to take a commanding three games to none lead in the best of seven series. Scott Howes again led the Aces offense with a goal and three assists. His second period power pay goal put Alaska on the board and tied the game at one. Chris Langkow, who scored in sudden death overtime in game two, buried two goals in a span of less than three minutes to extend the Aces lead to 3-1. Howes then set up Brian Swanson with 1:01 left in the period, and the Aces found themselves up 4-1 into the third period.

The Alaska Aces have a chance Monday night to make a second clean-sweep in the post-season as they approach Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Victoria Salmon Kings. The Aces made a show of strength Saturday, with a 6-2 victory in Victoria. Scott Howes, who has 13 points in the post-season, says he just wants to keep the Aces’ season going. “Obviously it feels good, but more than anything it’s the victory we need tonight. Scott Howes, the player who was cast aside by two ECHL teams before finding a home with the Alaska Aces and becoming the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs, has re-signed with Alaska. Howes led the team in postseason scoring with 7 goals and 12 assists as Alaska won its second ECHL title in May.  The Aces acquired him early in the regular season from Stockton and he went on to more than double his career high in points, finishing as the club's third leading scorer during the regular season with 22 goals and 36 assists.

The Alaska Aces punched their ticket to the Kelly Cup finals in thrilling fashion, as Scott Howes buried the series clinching goal with 34.9 seconds left, lifting Alaska to a 3-2 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings in game four of the ECHL's Western Conference finals. The win completes a four-game sweep of the Salmon Kings and keeps the Aces unbeaten in the postseason. It may have been a sweep, but they weren't easy games. However, the Aces proved clutch in all four contests. The win was Alaska's third of the series decided in the final 35 seconds of regulation or later.

Forward Scott Howes has been assigned to the Alaska Aces from the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  Howes addition to the lineup finalizes Alaska's playoffs roster at 23 players. Howes will join the Aces in Las Vegas for Game 1 of the ECHL's Western Conference Finals.  Howes was the Most Valuable Player of the ECHL Playoffs last year, registering points in 11 out of 12 games.  This season, Howes appeard in 6 games for the Aces.  Howes had 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists)

Bryan Miller scored the last goal of the 2010-11 hockey season at Sullivan Arena. Now, the veteran defenseman for the Alaska Aces has another goal in mind: To repeat as Kelly Cup Champions. Miller has re-signed with Alaska, following forward Scott Howes, who announced his intent to return to the Aces earlier this week. Miller, whose overtime goal in game two of the Kelly Cup Finals gave Alaska a two games to none lead over Kalamazoo, has been a valuable performer ever since he first put on an Aces jersey in the 2007-08 season.

The Alaska Aces capped off the most prolific postseason in ECHL history on Saturday night, winning their second Kelly Cup Title in franchise history with a 5-3 win over the Kalamazoo Wings in Game 5 of the championship series. Alaska claims the best-of-seven series four games to one and finishes the playoffs with 12 wins and just one defeat. In Game 5, the Aces made a habit out of quick responses to K-Wings goals. After falling behind 1-0 at 2:58 of the second period, Steve Ward scored his first goal of the postseason only 32 seconds later to even things up. The Aces took a 2-1 lead later in the second on Chris Langkow's first of two goals on the night.
