Two of the most decorated racers in the history of the Iron Dog snowmachine race are switching brands for the 2013 event. Seven-time champion Scott Davis and his partner, four-time winner Todd Palin, will ride Ski-Doo sleds, breaking a long-time relationship with manufacturer Arctic Cat. In 2012, the tandem of Davis and Palin finished fifth in the 2,000 mile race while on Arctic Cat snowmachines. Five of Davis' seven championships have...

Iron Dog announced that Scott Davis has confirmed that he will be partnered with Todd Palin in the 2012 Iron Dog race. The announcement brings questions about who Palins former partner, Eric Quam will race with. So far, there are only rumors. Iron Dog suspects that Mark McKenna (who is partnered with Dusty VanMeter) may still be struggling with his shoulder injury causing him to possibly drop out. Unofficial speculation is that Quam and VanMeter will join forces. The rules on switching partners state that substitutions are allowed under race rules, so long as paperwork is in on time.

Iron Dog racers spend countless hours preparing for and riding in the 2,000-mile snowmachine race -- the world's longest. It's also hard on their wives, but for former Alaska Gov. and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin it's part of the routine. "It's stay out of the way," Palin said as her husband Todd Palin and his Iron Dog teammate, Eric Quam, worked on their sleds on a blustery Wednesday night in Nome. "Those who are closest to these guys know what they need to do. " Spousal support at the Iron Dog is more than just a happy wife cheering her husband on from the sidelines.

Every Iron Dog race has its big names, but throughout the course of the race's 27-year history, the names of winners are ever-changing. "Anybody could win this race," defending champion Chris Olds said. The statistics back up his claim. Since 1990, 12 different riders have tasted victory, and in the past five years there have been five different champion teams. The 2011 event features three competitors with at least three titles: Seven-time winner Scott Davis, Todd Palin with four titles, and three-time champion Dusty Van Meter, who is riding with Marc McKenna, a 2-time winner.

by Channel 2 News staff Monday, February 22, 2010 ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Winning the Iron Dog takes perfection: No getting lost, no running out of gas, and no wrecks. Add to that list no personal injuries. Seven-time champion Scott Davis and partner Todd Palin scratched Monday because of a back injury sustained by Davis outside of Rainy Pass. It is a sport of reliance. You cannot continue solo. Davis has 20 finishes, the most in the history of the world's longest snowmachine race, and his seven titles are tied for the most all-time with John Faeo.

A Superior Court judge ruled on Friday in favor of former Gov. Sarah Palin in a lawsuit over her use of personal e-mail accounts to conduct state business. But while Judge Patrick McKay writes that Palin did not violate the law, his 14-page ruling frequently empathizes with Andree McLeod, a frequent Palin critic who filed the lawsuit. McKay concluded, among other things, that "not all emails relating to state business are necessarily public records, and that the "use of private email accounts to conduct state business does not -- in and of itself -- violate state law. " A preliminary injunction issued Oct. 10, 2008 requiring Palin to "preserve for the duration of the litigation all emails whose content relates in any way to official state business" was also terminated.

Gov. Sarah Palin was in Bristol Bay Monday, where she granted interviews to several national television networks. All of them wanted more details about why she plans to resign later this month -- as the Palins tried to net salmon, reporters fished for answers. CNN brought its cameras. ABC news was there too, as well as NBC's Andrea Mitchell. Mitchell met Palin's famous son Trig, and tried to pry information out of her daughter, Piper. "Piper, which way did you vote when your mom polled the family?
