The Alaska Aces were able to hold off the Utah Grizzlies 5-2 on the road Wednesday night. Korey Falite continued his hot streak with a goal on the night, making four goals in the last four games. Dan Kissel notched two goals on the scoreboard, while Tyler Ruegsegger scored one goal and had two assists. The win pulled the Aces within one point of the division-leading Grizzlies. The series sweep also makes the Aces undefeated in Utah on the year at 4-0. The team now heads to Idaho, where they are set to take on the Steelheads Friday and Saturday night.

The Alaska Aces remained unbeaten on their eight game road trip with a 4-2 come from behind victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Friday night.  Wes Goldie scored the game winner, his sixth goal of the season, with 1:19 left in regulation.  An empty net goal by Brian Swanson ended Utah's final bid to tie the game. The Aces improve to 13-4-1 overall, and 4-0-1 on their road swing.  Dan Kissel also delivered his team-leading 11th goal while Russ Sinkewich had two assists.

Utah Grizzlies goaltender Adam Morrison stopped all four Alaska Aces in a shootout as the Grizzlies edged the Aces, 3-2 in a shootout in Friday night ECHL action.  Alaska stands 35-11-6 overall. Nick Mazzolini and Chris Clackson scored goals for the Aces, who earn just one point despite not trailing in regulation.  Mazzolini's 27 goals are the second most in the ECHL.  Mark Guggenberger stopped 37 shots for the Aces.

The Alaska Aces closed out the 3 game series against the Idaho Steelheads with a 3 - 0 victory, completing the series sweep. The first goal of the night came in the first period from Nick Mazzolini, his first of the season. The Aces would score again in the second period, courtesy of Zach Harrison, Tyler Ruegsegger with the assist. Ruegsegger would net the final goal of the night well into the third period, securing the Alaska win. The Aces are on the road next weekend, visiting the Utah Grizzlies in a two game series starting October 28th.

The Alaska Aces were in action for a second straight night Saturday, again taking the Sullivan Arena ice against the Utah Grizzlies in the second official game of the season. Alaska trailed 3-1 late in the second period when Wes Goldie fired off a shot. Teammate Brian Swanson batted home the rebound to sound the Sully’s horn and put the Aces one point behind the lead. On Friday night, the Alaska Aces had to rally back from a 3-0 hole against the Utah Grizzlies to score a 5-4 overtime win, snapping the Aces’ three-game losing streak. Saturday’s game, however, was a much easier repeat performance. The Aces didn’t even have to sweat an extra frame Saturday, putting five points on the board while shutting out Utah. Wes Goldie scored two of Alaska’s goals, bringing him up to eight this year, while goalie Gerald Coleman pitched the shutout with 31 saves.

Wes Goldie buried two goals, his ECHL-leading 19th and 20th of the season, to lift the Alaska Aces to their 9th consecutive win, 4-1 over the Las Vegas Wranglers on Wednesday night at Sullivan Arena.  The winning streak is the longest in the league this season.   After Goldie tied the game at one in the second period, reigning ECHL player of the week Scott Howes gave Alaska its first lead only 2:45 later.  Both Goldie and Howes enjoyed three points on the night and Goldie now has five goals in the last two games.

The Alaska Aces won for the sixth straight time at home and improved to an ECHL-best 25-5-5 on the season with a methodical 3-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Friday night.  The Aces scored the first three goals, receiving scoring from Brandon Gentile, Tyler Ruegsegger, and Jacques Lamoureux in the victory.  Lamoureux was playing his first game since December 18th and notched his second of the season. Gerald Coleman, back in the lineup after missing six games with an injury, stopped  20 of 21 shots to collect the win in net. The Aces improve to 6-2-1 against the Grizzlies this season.  Saturday's series finale will also be their final head to head meeting of the year.

The Alaska Aces held off the Utah Grizzlies 2 - 1 in a shootout thriller Saturday evening at the Sullivan Arena. Scoring first was Utah's Tysen Dowzak at 5:33.  The Aces were unable to score but still outshot the Grizzlies 16-6. After a scoreless second period, Alaska's scoring attempts finally produced a goal from Bryan Miller on the power play.  With neither team able to net one again, the game was sent into OT and then a shootout. Nick Mazzolini was the only one able to score, giving Alaska the advantage as Gerald Coleman stopped all of Utah's shots.  The Aces pick up again next Thursday, January 12th, hosting the Stockton Thunder.

Joey Crabb, William Wrenn, Scott Gomez, and Nick Mazzolini tallied goals for the Aces in Wednesday night's 4-2 series opening win over the Utah Grizzlies.   The win is the 6th straight overall and 12th in the last 13 games for the Aces, who own the ECHL's best winning percentage with a mark of 17-5-0. Alaska and Utah will see each other a total of six times in the next two weeks.  On Wednesday, the Grizzlies were denied by Gerald Coleman's 24 saves.  Coleman made his first home start of the season after making his 2012-13 debut during Alaska's road trip.

The Alaska Aces scored three times in the final 2:18 of regulation to knock off the Utah Grizzlies, 5-2 in Wednesday night ECHL action.  The win gives Alaska a league best record of 38-11-6.  Many of those wins have come at Utah's expense.  The Aces finish their regular season head to head series with the Grizzlies 10-3-1, including a near spotless 7-0-1 mark in Utah. Nick Mazzolini scored his 30th goal of the season for the Aces, but the real fireworks came late in the game.  Mike Baran notched the game-winner, his second of the season, at 17:42 of the third, and his tally was followed only 19 seconds later by Garry Nunn's 15th of the season.  Bobby Hughes added an empty net goal to complete the rally.

Mark Guggenberger made 23 of his career-high 50 saves in the first period, an ECHL season best for any goaltender in any period, as the Alaska Aces blew out the Utah Grizzlies, 6-1 to improve to 37-11-6 on the season.  Spencer Bennett scored twice for Alaska, including one of three Aces goals in a 2:06 span in the opening frame. The Aces dominated on special teams, with Nick Mazzolini scoring a rare 5-on-3 shorthanded goal in the third period with Alaska killing off a Utah two-man advantage.  Alaska killed the penalty, and moments later, Garry Nunn buried a power play strike.

The Alaska Aces went three for five on the power play and tallied five unanswered goals to knock off the Utah Grizzlies, 5-4 on Friday night.  Nick Mazzolini led the Aces with his team-leading 16th and 17th goals of the season, while Garry Nunn notched a goal and two assists and Joey Crabb tallied three assists. Alaska improves to 19-8-0 overall.  The scoring almost wasn't enough as Utah mounted a comeback from 5-1 down in the second period to make things close in the third period.  Gerald Coleman made 13 of his 35 saves in the final 20 minutes to preserve the win.

Grant Rollheiser made 14 of his 28 saves in the third period to lead the Utah Grizzlies to a 2-1 victory over the Aces on Monday night at Sullivan Arena.  Alaska drops to 18-7-0 overall and loses for only the third time at home all season.  All three defeats have come against Utah. Joey Crabb scored his 12th goal of the season for the Aces, a strike at 14:11 of the third period to draw Alaska within a goal.  Mark Guggenberger saved 26 shots for the Aces.  Alaska travels to Idaho on Wednesday before visiting Utah for two more games Friday and Saturday.

One night after having their six-game winning streak broken, the Alaska Aces restored order by thumping the Utah Grizzlies, 8-4 on Saturday night.  Nick Mazzolini led the attack with a hat trick while Garry Nunn scored twice.  Mazzolini owns a team-high 15 goals this season.  Alaska now stands 18-6-0 overall. Nunn buried both of his goals in the first period as Alaska led, 4-0 after 20 minutes.  After Utah quickly made a game of it in the second, Mazzolini scored back to back goals 24 seconds apart to give the Aces a four-goal lead again.  Mazzolini also contributed two assists, while Jarred Smith, Scott Gomez, and Joey Crabb also scored for Alaska.

Former Aces Kory Falite and Mark Isherwood combined for three points as the Utah Grizzlies snapped the Aces run of six consecutive wins and eight straight at home with a 4-1 victory Friday night at Sullivan Arena.  Alaska drops to 17-6-0 overall and still leads the ECHL in points, while Utah gets to .500 at 9-9-2. Falite dished two assists, including a key play on Isherwood's second period goal that restored Utah's two-goal lead only 30 seconds after the Aces' Matt Robinson scored to make the score 2-1.    Gerald Coleman took his first loss of the season for Alaska.  The teams continue their four game series on Saturday night.

The two-time defending Brabham Cup Champion Alaska Aces have announced their 2012-13 schedule, opening next season on the road. Alaska begins the season in Loveland, Colorado where they'll face the Eagles in a 2 game series starting October 12th. Alaska's home opener is the following weekend, hosting the Utah Grizzlies at the Sullivan Arena.  The regular season consists of 72 games, 36 home and 36 away.  The Aces will face 8 Western Conference opponents this year, including the expansion San Francisco Bulls.
