The Seawolf hockey team defeated #14 St. Cloud State 3-1 Saturday night. For fans of the green and gold the teams 3-0 lead in the third period may not have offered much comfort. Only a night prior UAA saw a similar 3-0 lead evaporate and end in a 4-3 overtime loss. In a show of toughness the home town team was able to shake off the rough ending in that game and play their way to the groups first WCHA win this year. The scoring parade got started...

The University of Alaska Anchorage hockey team is preparing for its second WCHA home series against St. Cloud State. The Huskies haven't been capturing any best-in-show awards, as the pre-season No. 4 team in the nation is off to a 4-6-2 start -- but coach Dave Shyiak knows they have the talent to be dangerous. “They have Garrett Roe and the Drew LeBlanc kid -- they're just a team (where) if you give them time and space they'll capitalize, so our job is to not give them the time and space,” Shyiak said.

Tommy Grant scored with 8.1 seconds left in regulation to lift the UAA Hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over #15 Wisconsin on Friday night. Craig Parkinson buried the Seawolves other goal, a shorthanded strike in the second stanza. They move to 4-6-1 in WCHA play, while the Badgers drop to 3-6-2 in league play.

In a game with odd bounces that went in favor of the opposition, the UAA Seawolves fell to 4-18-1 in the WCHA with a 3-2 setback to the Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks on Friday night. Matt Bailey and Scott Warner notched power play goals to account for the UAA scoring. Bailey now has three goals in the last two games, but after Warner's tying goal in the third period, the Mavericks received the game-winner form Mike Louwerse on a shot that deflected in the air past Seawolves goaltender Rob Gunderson. The visitors also scored a goal on a slow-moving shot that bounced off a UAA defender. The Seawolves outshot MSU-Mankato, 24-17.
